Why "WHY ME?"
“The best way to make people understand how wrong abuse is (be it a dog or a person), is to write a song from the dog’s perspective but using humans to depict the scenes in a music video. It was a groundbreaking, extremely controversial concept and we knew it.”

Executive Producer and Co-Writer of “Why Me?” Amy Hines states, "The inspiration behind this song was fueled by an aggressive Facebook attack directed at Bluegrass Singer and Co-Writer, Donna Hughes. Donna had written a song, 'Dog on a 10 Foot Chain' that had remained on the top of the charts for 10 weeks straight. One afternoon, critics attacked her publicly and told her that no one cared about a stupid dog. The trolling escalated and Donna was devastated. Donna and I share our love for music and animals. I suggested that the best way to make people understand how wrong abuse is (be it a dog or a person), is to write a song from the dog’s perspective but using humans to depict the scenes in a music video. It was a groundbreaking, extremely controversial concept and we knew it. I guess I have always lived by the motto, ‘Go Big or Go Home’. It took less than 24 hours to write that song and the second it was finished, we KNEW we had a hit."
